In the length of time it took me to write this sentence

My firstborn turned into an 9 year old boy. Without pictures to look back on, I would forget so many details that are so special to me.  Like his chubby little baby hands having dimples where knuckles should have been.  And his vampire stage, where his incisors came in before his front teeth. (When my husband read this, he teared up and said “I forgot about his vampire stage!” Thank goodness for pictures, right?!)

My solution to losing those dimpled baby hands has been to keep having more babies.

But my plan won’t work forever. Babies don’t keep. Freezing time is the best we can do. I’m so grateful to have these photos to look at any time I want. When my little one enters a new stage and starts resembling a big boy instead of a baby, I will look at them. When these kids are testing my sanity, I will look at the walls and smile at their sweetness.

I want this for you as well.

Behind the Lens

Believer .01

It seems like caffeine and carbs would be enough to sustain me, but it’s not!  “For He satisfies the thirsty and fills my heart with good things.”  Faith is what fills my cup (and I need this every day!).

As a photographer, I hope that my work fills you up.  That through my pictures, you might see yourself the way God sees you and know that you are loved by Him.

Mom .02

I’m a mom to four littles, Caedmon, Reveille, Rayna & Cohen.

We threatened to put my son in a box on his 5th birthday so that he’d stop growing up.  He asked if his friends could drive by and throw cake in the box (2020 – did he call that or what?!).  So until someone cracks the code on slowing down time, the best we can do is freeze it.

Coffeeholic .03

When I’m not drowning in laundry or rescuing babies from the tops of bookshelves (they really do try to die all day, don’t they?), you can find me hiding out at a coffee shop.

You should know I’m a local celebrity.  I modified one of the smoothies at Cane’s Cafe in Palm Harbor.  So many people started ordering “The Whitney” they had to add me to the board.  I’m basically famous.  Sometimes I sign people’s drinks.

The instrument is not Camera but the Photographer.

I can’t believe

I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years.

Two whole decades of wielding a camera – not sure how I’m even old enough to say that! What a privilege it’s been to serve families over the years and give them memories to last for lifetimes.

In my “spare time” (ha! let’s all laugh together), I’m also a Physician Assistant, working in hematology. But photography has me heart and soul.

Word on the Street:

“When we do pictures next time, can we do them with you again?”

Sounds good kid. Have your people call my people.
