Photography Retreat
Photography Retreat
A new business must have
Guys, I did a thing.
A thing I’ve never done before – I went on a photography retreat! We had 15ish photographers, sharing an Airbnb (luckily, I got bottom bunk) with educators and lots of photoshoots sprinkled in.
Tiffany Crenshaw was our amazing host and mastermind. She helped us with our quarterly business plans and posing during a family session. She designed the whole event and put together the dream team.
Tae, the “house mom” took care of all the food and cleaning and ordering more toilet paper when we ran out. She walked by and refilled water and cleared our plates. It was wild do not have to switch hats, but to stay focused on photography for the whole time. I also had the best steak I’ve ever had in my life.
Geily Romero, was our finance educator, who actually sat with me and held my hand as we crunched numbers and set up savings accounts. I need all the emotional support with the maths.
And April Brown was our SEO guru who had lots of great website advice to help us get found on google.
Look at all those photographers hard at work!
I got lots of great advice from everyone, and I was pleased to learn that I actually had a lot to offer as well. But we weren’t just strapped to our laptops the whole time, we also did a “model” family photoshoot! I tried to capture lots of “in action” shots that these photographers can use on their websites.
Dreamy in home family session.
I’m past the point in my business of needing to boost my portfolio. I have more shoots under my belt than I could possibly show, so I didn’t think this part of the retreat would add much value for me.
But this family. These outfits. The well decorated home. The smiley little models. Magical! I’m so happy to have these! Plus I don’t shoot a ton in-home, so this was different and fun.
Some fresh headshots.
And lastly, we snapped a few of each other. The airbnb was beautiful and so was Seaside! We didn’t spend lots of time outside because it was freezing -it actually snowed for about 2 minutes. I haven’t seen snow in a decade, so this was very exciting stuff.
I have a video coming too =). It’s me in action taking headshots. I can’t wait to see it! Thanks Becca Jean Photography!
Isn’t that town so cute?!
There were many more places to explore, but my fingers were too cold to snap any more pictures. The beach was amazing too. I live near the water in Tampa Bay, but the beaches in the panhandle absolutely took my breath away! The water was turquoise and stretched on and on. And I even saw DEER.AT.THE.BEACH. I have cell phone shots to prove it.
The best part of the retreat was community. Photography can be an isolating industry. No one to bounce ideas off. No one to sit with you while you edit. If you’re a photographer, be sure to check out Tiffany’s website. If you can’t swing a retreat, she has other options too if your business needs some support!
And if these types of photos (showing off headshots and you in action) can help your business and your online presence, check out my headshots/personal branding page here!
